The Past
In the beginning of existence, when everything first started to Be, there were no humans. There was, however, a group of people--only twenty of them at most--without ages and without physical limitations. They were known as the "Protected Race," and would later call themselves the Council of God; eventually, humans would come to call them "angels."
What the Protected Race noticed was that God did not like to intervene in their affairs. It seemed as if he had created them, and the world around them, without any intention of becoming involved. He was like a watch-maker; he made his masterpiece, then sat back and watched as it carried out the rest of its lifespan.
This troubled the Protected Race, who wished to please their god but apparently had no means of doing so. In an attempt to win his favor, the Protected Race created their own subordinate race, which they called "human." They lent them the planet Earth to live on and took to the clouds, watching from above as they grew and developed on their own.
The Protected Race felt as if they were not worthy of God's attention; so, to make up for themselves, they made the humans with hopes that God would one day love them in the Protected Ones' place. This plan called for the humans to realize that all things exist through God, and to discover how to resonate with the divine energy that flowed through the universe from God's hands.
The human race was a disaster from the start. Not only was God not pleased, but the Council wasn't, either. They watched on with shame as the humans disregarded themselves, each other--and most of all, God, whom they couldn't even figure out existed.
Over time, the humans' flaws multiplied and grew worse. They were violent and loud, concerned with themselves and not in the least curious about what lay beyond the skies. They were meant to feel God within them, and to come to love him, so that he would love them back...but they didn't do either.
The Council of God decided this race had too many imperfections within itself. Their uncertainty collided with the oblivious mindsets of the humans; the collision turned into a merge, and from that merge formed four failsafes--four "consciences" of the universe.
They were considered members of the Protected Race, though they had been born from spontaneity. Each of the four had a certain ability to them that made them different and separate from the Protected Race, which made the Council wonder if God had sent them to the Protected Race as a means of solution to their problem.
The first was a being called Anima, who had the power to destroy the universe (although the Protected Race would not die when this happened). The second was Animus, who would recreate the universe from the previous one's ashes. The third was Animis, from whom the souls of all humans and all lifeforms, other than the Protected Race, would originate from in the years to follow. And the fourth was Animum, who held time together merely by existing; before this creature, the concept of Time did not exist, hence most of the dystopic tendencies of the confused humans.
And so, the Protected Race decided that, every time the humans failed to please them (by failing to gain the attention of God), they would have these four entities destroy the universe and rebuild it on their own, mimicking the one before it. They would keep on doing this until the humans got it right.
After following this pattern a countless number of times, the failsafes grew tired of all this destruction. The one who was particularly disturbed was Anima, whose given name was Yeshua. Yeshua thought that the Protected Race was going about this the wrong way; that instead of waiting for the humans to figure out the nature of God on their own, they needed to be taught and guided in the right direction. Moreover, he was growing sick of himself, knowing that every time humanity ended, it was his fault. Taking unheard-of measures, Yeshua placed himself in the midst of the humans, relating to them stories about the universe and reinforcing their belief in God. He told them that they were all sons and daughters of God; that God himself coursed through them, and that everything they saw--everything they touched--was just another part of God. He taught them morals, like how to respect someone the way you would want them to respect you, and he performed miracles, healing the humans of terrible diseases and opening their eyes to the greater power at work outside of their domain.
It seemed as if Yeshua's method of educating the humans was going to work...until one day, something both unbelievable and horrific happened. The Zohar, an item revered as an artifact that persisted through all incarnations of the universe, was accidentally absorbed into the body of a little boy named Abel.
This event was marked as another "flaw" in the universe, and despite the humans slowly growing to known God as their Father, this flaw called for the universe to be destroyed again. The Council of God ordered Yeshua to destroy the universe, and everything in it, so that the other three could get to work on reconstructing it.
But Yeshua refused to restart the world when he was approached by the Protected Race.
Since this was largely accepted by them as treason, Yeshua was killed. When he died, the Protected Race assumed that a new Anima would be born; one that would be less disobedient and more compliant. They were struck with confusion as they realized that God had no plans for a new Anima. There was no one born to take Yeshua's place, and thus, the Council was unable to restart the world. Finally giving up hope once and for all, the Council of God disbanded, with its members fleeing to different corners of the universe.

The Present
Thousands of years later, the universe continues to thrive to this day. However, the planet Earth has been abandoned and considered unsuitable to foster life. Humanity exists only in deep space.
A foreign species known as the Gnosis, aliens who originate from the Imaginary Realm of the universe, relentlessly chases humans throughout the galaxies. The Gnosis are manifestations of the humans' "rejecting will" to the consciousness of the universe and threaten to tear apart all living creatures.
The only way to get rid of the Gnosis is by the Hilbert Effect, a technique that makes it possible to enter battle with them; without it, humans are unable to so much as touch the Gnosis. Beings such as realians and battle androids are equipped with the Hilbert Effect, which turns the ghostly, intangible Gnosis into fully-fleshed creatures.
Another threat to humanity is a wave existence known as U-DO (a manifestation of the consciousness of the universe). As humans search for the Zohar, as they've been doing for over five thousand years, this wave existence reacts and threatens to inflict terror upon the universe. An example of this is the Miltian Conflict fourteen years ago; when an organization known as U-TIC was attempting to experiment on a Zohar Emulator, U-DO awakened and attacked everyone in the Miltian star system, sending humans and realians alike into bouts of insanity.
Humanity's response to U-DO is an idea contrived by Dmitri Yuriev; humanoid beings known as URTVs with the ability to combat U-DO, temporarily negating the wave existence's terrifying effects.
Meanwhile, an enigmatic man, once a member of the Protected Race millennia ago, has decided that neither God, nor his so-called Council, served their purpose well enough if terrible beings such as the Gnosis are still allowed to exist. With the aid of an ingenious engineer from Vector and a prestigious, world-renowned Salvator, he now attempts to create his own God, collecting three key components: "Mind," "body," and "soul." The mind: A painfully logical android named KOS-MOS. The body: An misfortune-stricken scientist from Vector named Shion Uzuki. The soul: A motherly entity known as Elhaym.

Groups, Affiliations, and Organizations
Galaxy Federation // The Galaxy Federation Government (GFG) is the body that governs nearly half a million planets throughout the known universe. The Federation's original capital was Earth (Lost Jerusalem). However, Earth was abandoned and the Federation was forced to relocate its capital four times. Its current capital is Fifth Jerusalem.
The Federation acts as an over-reaching government system, which allows each individual planet to retain its own government. The lower form of the Federation's ruling body is the Galaxy Federation assembly, which comprises of representatives from each planet in the government. Although the assembly is located on Fifth Jerusalem itself, many Representatives choose to participate via a U.M.N. connection. The higher level of the Federation's ruling body is referred to as the Executive Committee or Executive Committee assembly, which makes the final decision based on both their own discussions and those of the representatives.
Additionally, there are several councils that regulate the various aspects of the government, such as the Subcommittee On Close Encounters (SOCE) and the financial group.
Hyams Heavy Industries // Hyams Heavy Industries is a massive corporation that is known as the rival of Vector Industries. One of the pre-eminent producers of military spec AGWS models, Hyams has funded multiple organizations, including the Yuriev Institute, U-TIC, and many others.
Kukai Foundation // Serving as the financial foundation for several cargo crews, such as the Elsa, the Kukai Foundation is a special organization established after the end of the Miltian Conflict. It was initially founded with the sole purpose of subjugating the remains of the U-TIC Organization. However, ever since U-TIC's reappearance, most of the Kukai Foundation's military forces have been decommissioned, and the other divisions branched off into sprawling, independent civilian corporations, thus forming the basis of the Foundation's present structure. The unique concept has been proven to work, for the Foundation is in the top ten rising organizations in the galaxy. Its current leader is Gaignun Kukai.
The Kukai Foundation is also the name of the mobile base of operations of the group, which in itself has developed into a small civilization. There are several towns, or "sectors," within the base.
Ormus // Ormus is an ancient religious cult that originated on Lost Jerusalem. The religion is thousands of years old, and its followers abide by the teachings of a man named Yeshua, as well as revere the Zohar as an ancient artifact of the universe and the manifestation of the universe's will.
Members of Ormus claim to have safeguarded the Zohar since "time immemorial" (but if you asked them where it was, they couldn't tell you for the life in them). A military sect of Ormus known as the Immigrant Fleet was involved in both the Miltian Conflict and the space-time anomaly that sealed off Old Miltia.
SOCE // SOCE, short for Subcommittee On Close Encounters, is a panel of researchers convened by the Galaxy Federation Government in T.C. 4752 to counter the Gnosis phenomenon. SOCE is based on Fifth Jerusalem. While it is called a "sub"committee, it has over 2000 members representing government agencies, corporations, and various scientific fields. Its operational core consists of seven members, each of whom holds high positions in the Federation.
U-TIC Organization // U-TIC is short for Unknown Territory Intervention and Creation. The agency was buried in obscurity for decades, but reappeared in T.C. 4767. U-TIC is not affiliated with the Galaxy Federation; however, it boasts a level of technology and military force that far surpass those of the Federation government or military.
Rather than searching for the Zohar the way other groups are, U-TIC is constantly trying to create their own Zohar--although this fact is a well-kept secret.
In a manner of speaking, U-TIC was the primary cause of the Miltian Conflict fourteen years ago. At that time, its members were experimenting on a Zohar Emulator, which caused U-DO to react and inflict literal insanity on the residents of the Miltian System. Responsibility for the Miltian Conflict may be why U-TIC remained in hiding until recently.
U-TIC's origins can be traced back to the Mizrahi Neuro-Science Institute, which means that Joachim Mizrahi is the agency's founder. For this reason, the members of U-TIC feel as if his legacy and unfinished works rightfully belong to them.
Vector Industries // Vector Industries is the largest business conglomerate in the Galaxy Federation and an integral part of modern civilization. It has facilities on nearly every planet in the Federation and is the chief manufacturer of Federation weapons, starships, medicine, entertainment, and communications equipment. Vector is also involved in the production and distribution of almost every product, from food to computer hardware. It has a multitude of divisions, of which the core components are the First, Second and Third R&D Divisions.
Vector has a very long history, and its presence dates back to the Lost Jerusalem era. Vector even funded the Masuda expedition to Lake Turkana in Kenya which uncovered the Zohar. The founder and CEO of Vector Industries is Wilhelm, who is assumed to live off of life extensions.
Yuriev Institute // The Yuriev Institute, located on the planet Vartas, is the home and training center for the URTV units. Dmitri Yuriev created the URTVs ("U-DO Retrovirus") as biological weapons to combat U-DO. Most of the URTVs act as a collective consciousness and do not acknowledge their individuality, as they technically have none. Only # 666 - 670 can think for themselves, and this state of mind was only available to them after Yuriev performed mutations on their life wavelengths.
Ziggurat Industries // Ziggurat Industries specializes in cybernetic and bio-mechanical technology, as well as nanotechnology (as of recently). It was this company that created the Ziggurat Series cyborgs under legal permission of the Life Recycling Act.
Omega Alliance // An unknown organization that illegally resides on the asteroid Pleroma. Nanotechnology and URTVs are guarding the base, which suggests that Dmitri Yuriev, as well as someone from Ziggurat Industries, may possibly be involved.
